Office 2007 RTM Volume License Keys

R

Ralf Tobel

Hi,

has someone successfully used a Volume License Key to install one of the
Office 2007 applications?

I've got the VLKs from the Microsoft Activation center but neither the key
for Office or the key for the applications like Visio, Project, ... is
accepted.

I've downloaded the Office 2007 RTM versions from MSDN. Do I need a
different version of the applications than that on MSDN?

Regards,
Ralf

It's always worth a shot to download the VL copy from the Volume License
download.
Note that most people responding here don't have access to VL or VLKs.
Your best bet with VLK issues is to call MS.

Hi Ralf,

For folks with 'retail' MSDN subscriptions the products are also retail at this point. For the 2007 Office system apps 'Enterprise'
targeted products have additional installation customization features and tools. Changing product keys on that media to Volume
License keys wouldn't add the missing parts :)

fwiw I used the vlk together with the download from the eopen website and it
has worked fine. I noticed that, as well as having the extra directory, the
dates on the files are a few hours different from the msdn version, so I
don't know if there are any other subtle differences.

Hi Steve,

The enterprise editions have the \Admin folder and contents and the name of the folder in MSDN's retail edition (ProRww.MSI should
be different for the Enterprise/volume license media editions). Is the version you downloaded MS Office 2007 Professional or
Proplus?

The retail editions do not work on Terminal Server/Services and do not include all of Information Rights Management features.

Hi Bob,

I've tried the VLK for Office 2007 Groove. And it doesn't work with the
version downloaded from MSDN.

So is are there also two versions of Groove?
