I'm running Office 2007 in compatibility mode and have the Save option set to
Office 2003. When using the "Send to" feature, it sends in Office 2007
format. Is there a way to set it to default to Office 2003 format?

"send to" what? In PowerPoint, for example, there's a "send to Word" option.
Is that what you're asking about?

If it's "send to email," saving the file as 97-2003 format, then sending
seems to work here.

Yes, it is the "Send to Email" function. It bypasses the "Save file in this
format..." option and attaches the Office 2007 format. After further
testing, it only appears to do it on PowerPoint. The simple solution is what
you suggested, but it requires additional steps. If that's the only
solution, so be it, but I'd like to know if there is a work around or
registry hack to change this.
