Office 2007 SP1 Version Anomalies

Simon

I am running Office 2007 and already have SP1 installed, as confirmed by the
About [Application] windows for each application.

However, Windows Update on Vista has just today (14 September 2008) offered
me Office 2007 SP1, with a claimed release date of 10/06/2008. The more
information link is to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4-992C-4165-A997-25DA01F388F5 &displaylang=en,
the original SP1 page, which claims a publication date of 12/8/2007, and
links to KB936982, which it seems was last revised on 10 June, which would at
least match the update's release date. Does anyone know if the contents of
the SP1 update were actually changed on 10 June, or if it was just the KB
article which was updated? It would seem very strange to change the contents
of SP1 without a new version number.

Looking through the list of file versions, it seems I have the same or even
newer versions for all the ones I've checked, so presumably I shouldn't
install the update. I am, however, a little anxious about ignoring an update
flagged as important, and concerned that Windows Update is offering to
downgrade files to previous versions with an out of date important update.
Does anyone have any idea why this has happened? As this appears to be a bug
with potential security implications, with any other manufacturer I would
phone technical support, but I'm not prepared to pay $59 for the privilege!
