When running the install office2007sp2-kb953195-fullfile-en-us.exe, it gives
the 'Running update detection, please wait' progress, then goes through
'Extracting files, please wait...' and then gives me 'The installation of
this package failed.'. Can anybody help please. Thanks

Hi TaurArian, I eventually got back to the office to retry it.

No joy. Exactly the same message.

I went one step further and created a folder C:\test. Copied the .exe into
the folder and then ran it with the extract switch. It showed some progress
in extracting files but ended up giving the failure message again. However,
this time it had left two files in the C:\test folder - eula.txt and
MAINWWsp2.msp.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

John

I'm seeing the same thing but noticed something else just now.

Both the sp1 and sp2 downloads from the MS site are telling me that the file
does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. Really?
MS isn't signing their downloads?

Could that be why they're not extracting or is there a security setting that
I have enabled/disabled that might be causing this prob?
