Office 2007 SP2 Instant Search Functionality Problem

I recently installed Office 2007 SP2 on my work computer and I am
finding that search queries within Outlook 2007 are much slower than
when I was Pre-SP2. It is almost as slow as if indexing was not
enabled. I am using Outlook 2007 in cached exchange mode with an
Exchange 2003 server on Windows Server 2003. I am using version 4 of
WDS. This problem appears to manifest itself when I use the "Try
searching again in All Mail Items" option. Searches within the
current folder are still relatively instant.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have taken:
1. Recreated the OST file and then rebuilt my index. But, this did
not help.
2. Verified that Outlook shows under the "Indexing Options" and that
my mailbox is correctly selected.
3. The Indexing Options interface indicates that my indexing is
complete, so the computer is still not indexing.

I am also experiencing the same problems on my home computer in
Outlook 2007 after installing SP2. My home computer does not use an
Exchange connection, but instead uses PST files for my POP accounts.

My OST file with my Exchange connection is 2.03GB and my home's PST
file is 1.62GB. So, while they are large files, they are not
enormous.

I had no problems with search queries before SP2 - all search queries
were nearly "instant".

Has anyone else experienced this issue after installing SP2 and if so,
has anyone found a workaround?

I installed Office 2007 SP2 on a new computer with Windows 7 RC and I
am still experiencing the same problem - search queries using "All
Mail Items" are very slow. I did not have an antivirus program or any
other third party security programs installed on my Windows 7 computer
when I experienced this problem. So, this rules out security software
potentially being the problem.

So, it does not appear that this problem is specific to my
installation - even freshly built setups are experiencing this problem
and so this problem appears to be a general problem with Outlook 2007
SP2.

Yes, I have experienced exactly the same problem - SP2 has made the Search
very slow and quite frustrating. SP2 cannot be un-installed either. Is there
a fix available?

Hi, i also had the same problem. after a lot of trouble witz this
problem i found a threat where someone advised a search tool for
outlook.
I checked it (the tool is Lookeen (www.lookeen.com)) and it worked
great. much faster in indexing and the search is really great.
results come categorized, also attachments are searched within. so i
decided to take this tool and i´m don´t want to miss it.

another solution could be SP3?!! maybe there the problem is fixed.

Has anyone found a resolution or a hotfix to resolve this problem? I am
still experiencing this problem with a full updated computer and I am being
forced to perform all my Outlook queries through Windows Explorer since it
works correctly.
