Office 2007 Trial

If I decide after trying out Office 2007 that is isn't for me, can I simply
and safely return to using my existing Office 2003? The Trial procedure says
that "reduced funtionality" occurs when the trial period runs out. What does
that mean in terms of going back to what I have now?

It means after the trial has expired you cannot create / edit with the Trial

If you saved any new docs in the new format, as apposed to old format, when
you uninstall the trial and reinstall 2003 you would need to install the
2007 compatibility pack to read docs created in the new 2007 format

(i) So to return to 2003, I would need to uninstall 2007 and reinstall 2003?
(ii) And I could read docs with the 2007 compatibility pack but would this
apply to Excel and Outlook?

Outlook data file is no different in the two versions
Excel / Word files created / saved in 2007 default format would require the
compatibility pack in 2003 to view them
(You can open any files (Word / Excel) currently created by 2007, then save
in old format)
If you origonally upgraded when you installed the trial you would need to
reinstall 2003

To clarify DL's response about "if you upgraded," when you installed the
trial you were given two methods of installation. One was to overwrite the
previous version's program files (and this is the default) or do a custom,
side-by-side, installation where the original programs are not overwritten.
Depending on the way you installed the trial you may or may not have to
reinstall Office 2003 and we can't tell you which you may have to do. If
you attempt to run a Word 2003 version after the uninstall then the Office
2003 suite will have to be reinstalled completely from the original media.

When I try to instal Office 2007 it says I must remove Outlook 2003 before I
can install Outlook 2007 to do this. How do I remove Outlook 2003 without
removing the whole of Office 203?

Bob I is correct about the procedure to uninstall Outlook 2003. If you do
uninstall Outlook 2003 and install Outlook 2007 then don't like it you
should be able to uninstall 2007 and reinstall Office 2003's Outlook without
any problems. Outlook '03 & '07 use the same type of PST file to hold it's
data and should be interchangeable as this KB article explains:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830336. When you look at this it is a
little confusing. They are saying '07 & '03 are the same but are larger
than '02 and earlier. There may be an issue however for the actual emails
depending on their source (IMAP or HTTP accounts) between '07 & '03.

Thanks. My big worry is that I uninstall 2007 and reinstall 2003 and can't find my emails. You say "you should be able to uninstall etc. without any problems". Does Outlook 2003 automatically know where to find my emails, and indeed vice versa when I uninstall 2003 and install 2007?
