Office 2007 upgrade failure

Raging Cajun

I tried to upgrade office 2007 from office2000 on Sony laptop XP SP2. Left it
running & went to bed. Next morning woke up and PC was off. Restarted & no
office anything. Restarted the office 2007 & it said it could not find
qualifying Office 2000. Went to reinstall Office 2000 which said system was
in middle of up-grading 2007--did I want to terminate. Since I hope not to
lose all my Office 2000 stuff, I am wondering what to do?

Hi, Raging Cajun,

Can you uninstall all of the Office applications? If you have your original
CDs, I would try that first, then just try to install Office 2007. When
prompted, provide your Office 2000 CD for proof that you own the qualifying
product.

If the installer is still confused, you may want to run the Windows
Installer Cleanup Utility to remove all registry references to Office, then
try re-installing.
