Last night, I upgraded from Office XP to Office 2007. The desktop is WinXP
Pro with IE7. Now, when I open Outlook and the Outllook Today page is
displayed and the "Messages" list (list of Outlook folders) is not updated.
If any of the Outlook folders on the the "Messages" list are selcted and
clicked, a VBA script error; "Line: 306, Error: access is denied" is
generated. This is does not help with the user experience after downloading
950MB in files and spending a few hours installing the product and finding
you have to use REGEDIT and "hack" the application and that the the
Outlook.pst file was not converted to the new format.
The value for folder "0" was "\\Outlook Today\Inbox", changed to "Inbox".
The values for folders "1" and "2" were later updated by removing the
"\\Outlook Today\" prefix. The error was corrected and values on "Messages"
list updated with each refresh. I also tried to use "Customize Outlook
Today" page, but it adds "\\Outlook Today\" prefix to each value with each
save.
Suggestion: 1. Fix the default Outlook Today page (and code), this has been
issue with each verison of Outlook and this is the frist page in the user
experience of Outlook.
2. Produce a tool to covert the outlook.pst (2GB limit)
when upgrading to new format (20GB limit).
