Office 2007 upgrade

It is my understanding that there is a unauthenticated version of 2003 on one
of our computers. We are wanting to change to 2007 Small business. Can I
purchase the upgrade?

Unauthenticated, meaning illegal? I'm not a legal expert, but I feel fairly
safe in saying that an illegal copy of software is not eligible for upgrade
pricing to the next version.

Let's say you want to buy a new car. But you don't want to pay the full
price of a new car. So your solution is to steal a car, create fake
ownership papers for the stolen car, and trade in the stolen car for a
new car at your new car dealership so that you only have to pay the
difference between the value of the stolen car and the value of the new
car. Can you do that?
