Office 2007 very slow to open from within Outlook

I have a new Dell computer using Vista and Office 2007. Office 2007 programs
opens fine when I open them from the start menu, however if I double click
on a document within Outlook it take several minutes to open unless the
application is already open (ie Word, Excel…). While the program is trying to
open Outlook also locks up. I do not have this problem when opening a pdf
file. I have tried to reinstall Office but the problem continues. Any
suggestions?

We have the same problem here. Trying to open Word or Excel from Outlook
attachment took average 2-3 minutes.
No problem at all with Office 2003 before.
Please advise.
