Hi,
I have both 2008 and 2004 on my machine. Word 2008 and excel 2008
insist upon opening documents, despite my setting word 2004 and excel
2004 as the default apps for those files.

How can I correct this? I must keep 2004, as I need it for vba

many thanks.

You can try Get-info from the finder on each type of file (.xls and .doc)
and then choose open with, navigate to Office 2004 and then click use this
for al file types. HOWEVER, this may not work. It is just best to get used
to opening the application and then using file-open to open the file.

I recommend putting the icons for 2004 in the dock "permanently" and
dragging documents to them. That's what I've found to be the best
sure-fire way to force a document to open in the version I prefer.

Additional to what the others have written: If the corresponding 2004 is
already running & you double-click a .doc or .xls in Finder the file will
open in that version - it's only if the 2004 app *isn't* running that
they'll open in the 2008 version.
