Office 2008 database problem message

Charles

Lately when I open Excel 12.1.1 (OS X 10.5.4), I get a message saying,
"There is a problem with the Office database, " but when I use Microsoft
Database Utility to verify the database, it reports the database is fine.

I have no other apparent problems with Excel or other Office 2008
components.

For what it's worth, I also have Office 2004 installed, but it is not
running when I get the alert message.

I woudl still rebuild the database to try and correct the issue...

I have seen issues like this were moving the entire Microsoft User Data
folder to the desktop and letting Entourage create a new one THEN you can
move back the individual folders like your Identity.

Note, when you move the Microsoft User Data folder out of Documents,
Entourage will create a new one with a blank Identity. You will need to
replace this blank Identity. If your Identity still does not work, then try
rebuilding.

How to rebuild:

Quit any applications that are running, including virus-protection
applications, all Office applications, Microsoft Messenger for Mac, and
Office Notifications/Reminders, because they might interfere with
rebuilding.

Always backup first.

In my case, I have never used Entourage (or even opened it as far as I
can remember). I have only used Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Word Excel and PowerPoint still can use the Entourae database for
address book integration, projects, etc.
