Office 2008 Excel and Add-in functions

The add-in functions (xirr, xnpv, etc.) no longer seem to be add-ins. They seem to be finally included with regular functions (after, what, ten years), however they I can't seem to get them to work properly.

When I open a spreadsheet from Excel 2004 I have a NUM error. I can re-enter the formula in 2008 and it comes up with an answer. However, when I recalc, it reverts to the error.

Any ideas? Do these functions work on Excel 2008?

I can't reproduce this - does it happen with just this one workbook? If
so, it's possible that it is corrupted.

Since it works when you re-enter, I'm assuming that your dates aren't
causing the #NUM! error...

I have not had a lot of time to run it down, but I doubt the file is corrupted. It is one we use all the time.

The string of dates could be the problem, although they weren't before. They are the results of =eomonth() function.

There was a reference in the function help box that they need to be in the =Date(y,m,d) format, which I didn't really understand. The dates should be fine with the date math.

Do the former add-in functions work fine in 2008? If that is true, I can figure it out. If not, we won't be able to upgrade users since XIRR and XNPV are must have functions.

In the testing I've done, the built-in functions in XL08 produce exactly
the same results as their ATP counterparts in XL04.

Hi,

Can you post an example workbook to the web someplace so we can try it?

Thanks.
