Office 2008 Printing Dialog box

Hello, I am very new to Mac and Office 2008, so I hope you will bear with
me.

When I go to print from within any of the Office 2008 products, I can either
select Print from the menu or use the Quick Print button from the toolbar.
By default, these both seem to use the built in Standard print profile.
Unfortunately, this sends the pages to my printer in beautiful Technicolor
and costs me a fortune in print costs.

I am trying to establish how to change the standard profile, so that it
selects Greyscale. I see that I can make a anew profile, which sends in
Greyscale, but then I cannot see how to make this the default profile.

Can some kind person help me please

Many thanks

Hi Alex:

I think you need to create a new "Printer", not a new "Profile".

Create a printer, pointing at the same physical device, with its options set
to print grayscale.

The Quick Print button always prints to the "Last Printer Used" in a
session, reverting to the default printer when Word re-starts.

The File>Print button always shows you the printer property sheets and
enables you to choose.

But neither button stores the Profile option.

Hope this helps

Hi Alex,

When you use File > Print, click the downward pointing triangle next to
the name of the Printer. That exposes the complete Print pane.

Click the Copies and Pages pop-up and choose Print Settings.

You should be able to choose color or black or black& white or something
similar there (depends on the brand and model printer - this pane
belongs to the printer, not Word).

You can save your settings by clicking the Presents pop-up and giving
the setup a name.

-Jim
