Office 2008 reminders don't appear automatically

I have multiple reminders (calendar events) set to "Every Day" yet
they don't automatically appear each day. The only way to get them to
appear is to close the Office Reminders app and reopen it. Once I do
that all of my reminders for that day appear. I've update to 12.0.1
and all my apps reflect this except Office Reminders which still shows
12.0.0 (071130). Microsoft Database Daemon is in my login items and
I've checked Activity Monitor to confirm that it's running. I'm not
sure if this has anything to do with it but I used Office 2004
previously and all of my reminders were created in that version. Any
ideas why this is happening?

I removed Office 2004 and Office 2008 and reinstalled just 2008 to see if this would solve the problem but unfortunately it's still not working correctly. I noticed that for Outlook for windows there is a "switch" called cleanreminders. Is there something similar for the Mac?

There is no cleanreminders.

Reminders work only if you have them turned on. Actually a daemon is
responsible for launching them even if all Office applications are quit.

Thanks for the reply but as you can see from my original post reminders are on and the Microsoft Database Daemon is running yet the reminders don't pop up unless I quit the Office Reminders app and reopen it.

Perfect example, I woke my computer from sleep this morning and looked at my reminders and I had 14. I knew a few were missing that should have popped up this morning so I closed the Office Reminders app and reopened it and now it shows I have 21.

So is the Microsoft Database Daemon not working although it is in my login items and it shows that it is running in Activity Monitor? Does the act of me closing and then reopening the Office Reminders app do the same thing that the Microsoft Database Daemon should be doing?

Yes, you should either snooze or hide. Do not quit.

Are you using My Day? Since you have so many, it sounds like you might need
to have some of these in My Day. Control-m hides My Day.

Thanks again for the reply but I think there's a bit of miscommunication  The only reason I'm quiting Office Reminders is because that's the only way I can get reminders that are due to show up. I can leave Office Reminders open all day and none of the reminders that are due will come up. But the second I quit the app and launch it again all the reminders that are supposed to be there are there. I used Office 2004 previous to this version and the reminders always came up on there own, I never had to quit the program and restart it to force them to appear. Maybe something got screwed up when I imported my Office 2004 identity into 2008. Should I try rebuilding the database? Would this have any effect on the problem I'm having with the reminders?

Thanks for the clarification.

I doubt rebuilding will affect this. I don't believe this has been reported
so I doubt it's a bug. Surely others would have seen the same behavior. I
can try running this past some power users to see what they might suggest.

Try rebuilding your database. Even though the database makes a backup, I
always suggest making a duplicate in case something goes wrong.

It's possible you might need to migrate your data into a new Identity. How
to manually move your data:

One more way to test.

Set up a new User in System Preferences
Create some reminders for testing.

User Fast user switching to see if it's updating.

Thanks for the suggestions but before trying them I decided to remove a few of my login items to see if maybe something was conflicting with the Office Reminders or the Microsoft Database Daemon. I removed three of my login items and now the reminders work! The three apps I removed were:

MicrosoftMouseHelper
Butler
MenuCalendarClock

Now I just need to figure out which one was causing the problem. Thanks again!

That really good feedback. I'll pass this on to the developers. Thanks!!
