Hi,

Since I haven't seen any discussion of this yet, I thought I'd let people
know that we released our second major service pack (12.2.0) yesterday. We
made a number of significant improvements in Excel, including some targeted
improvements for calculation and many of the specific issues that have been
discussed in this forum. I encourage everyone to update right away and to
post any feedback you have to this forum or via the Help/Send Feedback tool
in Excel. Here are all the details:

Thanks,

Pat

The big thing for Excel in this update is the speed increase!

Thanks pat. I updated immediately and so far everything is fine. The problem
with the cursor jumping a character or 2 when editing a long formula has
also been fixed. Thanks.

Hi Pat:

I just spent 45 minutes downloading through the auto Updater 12.2.0 plus
another 5 minutes to install.

I opened a Spreadsheet I am using to calculate bills I am having to pay
for my mother while in Nursing Home I added an item. But didn't see any
significant speed up of calculation. This is on a PowerPC 1.67GB Machine
with 2GB Ram and a 1mb DSL connection.

The only thing, I saw it was to add a new feature and possibly kill Web
Dav support Of course I don't use on a networks other than my email come
through a 802.11n connection from my DSL to this computer, so that
doesn't matter.

Any idea what all it supposed to fix and add?

Hi Phillip,

Regarding the calculation performance improvements, I believe the changes
there address targeted scenarios where we had specific performance issues
and not general calculation across the board.

Regarding other improvements. There's a long list of some (but not all) of
the improvements made to Excel under the header "Improvements for Microsoft
Excel 2008 for Mac" at the link I sent in my original post:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973254. Please check them out by visiting
that link.

Thanks,

Pat
