Office 2008 Word

In 2004 Word, you could open your own template or create one and save it. When I went to open the new Word, there were no templates. Do they need to be down loaded?

Hi Ed -

The templates should be there unless you chose not to install them - normal
installation puts them where they should be. Are you looking in File>
Project Gallery> New?

If you're trying to find the actual template files themselves, they're not
stored in the same path as they were in Office 2004. Any templates you
create are stored in a separate & diferent location as well- although you
can change that through Word> Preferences> File Locations.

Not so - I got a message during installation saying they were being put in a certain folder but did not make a note of it thinking it would be easy to find later. No trace of them now.

They're in a folder called "Rescued Items", but I can't get them into the projects area.

Good point about the 'rescue file' During install I believe it said if you delete 04, your templates would be in a 'rescued' file on your desk top.. No so luck.. No rescue file found.. All most now wish had not deleted 04 until I did have everything recovered..

File Project Gallery now reads from the location:
/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates

If you found them in Rescued Items, just move them there.
