It hasn't been released yet. Everything I've read indicates a late
2010 release date.

I would have said "Has this product been released?". The "does" and
"has" seem like two separate verbs here trying to ask two different
questions.

There is currently a public beta for Office 2010 for Windows. Anyone can
participate in this beta for free, so do not pay anyone to get access to
it. As for the next version of Office for Mac: the Macintosh Business
Unit at Microsoft have not announced a proper release date, but they
have announced in a blog post that the plan is to release Office for Mac
(2010/2011?) at some point during the holiday season 2010 (which is
around December in the US). There is no public beta for Office for Mac
2010/2011, so the dealer is either not telling the complete truth, or he
has somehow managed to obtain a test build of Office for Mac and is now
sharing or selling it, which is illegal.

My advice: stick with Office 2008 until you hear from an official source
that the new version has been released.

This has not been released for the Mac. I seriously doubt it's Office 2010
for Mac. It's probably the Windows version that's in beta. You can beta test
for free the Windows version.
