Have they "improved" it so that anything I manage to get used to in
O20007 -- that's different from what I'd been using in O2003 -- will in turn
have to un-learned?

Here's a better link:

th first one came through so oddly.

BJ, I'm not certain I understand what you are asking. If you are wondering
if we've changed the UI for 2010, the answer is Yes. We're now using a
Ribbon interface like the rest of the Office applications. Yes, there is a
learning curve to finding where all the features are. I think we've done a
good job to make that as painless as possible and to locate the features in
places that make the most sense. I know that I have had a steep learning
curve for finding my favorite features in other applications when those
changed in 2007, so know it can be frustrating at first. If we haven't made
the Ribbon in Publisher intuitive, I hope our beta participants will tell us
that so that we can make the right changes.

Hmm. Remind me, the advantages of the ribbon are?

I think it's to confuse people who, for whatever reason, don't think things
belong or are to be found where Microsoft thinks they ought to be. (thank
goodness for the quick-icon bar, even if they are awfully small icons)

Also to take up more room on the screen, leaving ever less for actual work.

Oh, and let's not forget the potential sales of all the new how-to books for
the totally-lost&confused among us!
