Hi everybody,
I must install Office 2000 SR-1 Professional french from a CD with
serial key (CD 1 only) on a terminal server running under windows 2000
advanced server SP4.
I downloaded the Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit Tools and the
Office 2000 File and Registry Eraser Utility
..
First I tried to install Office 2000 Professional English, works well
with the transform file termsrvr.mst.
Then I uninstalled it and using the office eraser utility to wipe all
the old office files.
I installed the French version, taking care to rebuild the
termsrvr.mst file with the office 2000 resource kit tools and. I set
all the parameters as local or not available as said in the MKB. And
save as termsrvr_fr.mst.
I copied the file locally on my terminal server and then I began the
office installation from the add/remove programs. I added the switch
as said in the MKB
D:\install .exe transforms=C:\termsrvr_fr.mst.
The installation finished without an errors or warning messages or
event messages in the logs.
But office didn't prompt to enter the serial key.
I opened Word but nothing happened, only the sand glass during a very
short time and disappeared.
I tried to rebuild the termsrvr.mst file a second time and installed
it again on an other workstation (with the same hardware configuration
and a fresh ghost).
Exactly the same thing happened as said before.
I tried a third time with a third termsrvr.mst (useless components
out, just keeping what I needed) and I found a way to force the
installation prompted to enter the serial key.
I used the next command :
D:\install.exe transforms=C:\termsrvr.mst
PIDKEY="xxxxxyyyyyzzzzzyyyyyxxxxx" or maybe the order of the switches
may be different.
But that didn't work : as before no errors, no warnings, no events in
logs but nothing happened when I tried to execute word.
For now, I'm little out of ideas, so if someone knows a solution or a
reason (like version problem, known problem fixed in a next SP, …) it
would be very kind.
Thx a lot for the answer(s) and have a nice day.
