Jerry,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem you are having. Which update are you
trying to install? Is it SP1 or something else? Is error 995 the entire
message?
Thanks,
Cindy [MS]

Yes Cindy, I am sorry it is Office 2003 SP1 on WinXP Pro
with SP1.

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry,

The error message you received seems to indicate that a service the Windows
Installer was using during setup stopped responding and caused an update
failure. Can you try rebooting your computer and reapplying the update?
This will help us determine if this failure occurs all the time or the
reboot clears up the memory.

Thanks,

Jerry,

In order to better troubleshoot this issue I would like to obtain verbose
log files that track what happened duirng your installation attemp. The
following article is for Office 2000 but it contains information on how to
enable verbose logging in the registry(see section titled "Maintenance Mode
or Install on First Use Logging"). Please enable logging and attempt to
apply the update. The log file will help us better troubleshoot this issue.
