Office 2K3 updates (10/11Oct) overwrite files for Outlook2007 B2TR

FYI the updates which I received last night corrupted my install of Office
2007 B2TR. It appears to have overwritten critical files required for its
operation, primarily Outlook 2007 says OLMAPI32.DLl is missing. Reinstalling
this file does not resolve the issue. (I have Symantec GOback 4 installed -
not that I thought it would)

I do have Office 2K3 installed, although I am using Outlook 2007 B2TR as my
email client - as you cant these to apps co-existing.

I have had to disable the automatic update feature to ensure that this does
not happen again.

Not asking for or expecting support, as I know its a beta, and I can
reinstall it as a work around. But thought someone should be aware. If there
is an alternative fix would love to know though.

Generally live Office 2007, nice work. Please consider adding Harvard style
to the citation and references, very widely used and much missed, would make
this an excellent tool.

Apologies if this is not the correct place to post, please advise location
and i will repost.

Kind regards,

Steve

Finally think I've got the baby licked.

You really have to clean up your system well when reinstalling. Kept getting
the dreadded error 2711. Followed all the "official" advise, still had
problems. In the end desparation loomed and I was forced to use CCleaner and
still issues. Backed up reg key for office and deleted the whole office
section, only after de-installing Office 2K3 and 2K7 inc any related stuff.
Finally got Office 2K7 to reinstall.

Do not consider doing this stuff lightly, it potentially could really stuff
you PC up.

Just for anyone who is considering this, if you are going to install B2TR,
then install all Office apps first (inc Project, Visio etc) as you'll
probably get the error 2711 if you add try and add them after.

Hi Steve,
I am having the exact problem. Could you please give me specifics and walk
me thru the reinstall. I've removed all evidence of office in the registry,
but don't know if i got the install registry keys. I've attempted to
reinstall several times and keep getting error 2711. I've tried to uninstall
from the add and remove and from windows install clean up and still no go.

I would greatly appreciate your advice. As this has been going on for about
a week now and has really backed me up on getting my work done.

thanks,
Julie
