Office 3003 - Word

I currently have Office 2003 0n my computer. Howerver on occasions when I use Word (both by itself and within Outlook) The file menu keeps displaying also sometimes a line of self typing Dots (underlined and highlighted). Also self typing sentences - sometines making sense but also not. Thesre appear and sometimes will self correct (ie backspace). The operating system is XP home.
