Office 95 & Publisher 200 to XP

I just purchase a new computer using XP. I loaded my
Office 95 and Publisher 2000 with no problems, however
most of my files are on CD's. I use both CD-R and Cd-RW.
My new computer will not let me access the CD drive "D." I
called the company that I purchased the computer from and
they think Office 95 and Publisher 2000 will not run an an
XP. Every thing seems fine except I can not access files
from CD/DVD. The CD drive does work for other
applications.
Any ideas on what is going on?
