Office 97 and Office 2003

I have a desktop with Office 97 Pro and Windows 98. I just bought a Dell
laptop and want to buy Office SBE. My question is can I transfer files
between the two computers? Let's say I create an Excel file in Office 2003,
can I then open that file in 97. Same for Outlook, Word and Powerpoint.

Thanks to all, Gordon

Provided you don't use features that 97 would choke on. Doing a Save As
and picking 97 will avoid causing problems.

Hi,

they are compatible with the exception of Access where you must save files
in the older format directly to enable use with Office 97. Please also note
that the PST file used by Outlook 2003 may not be compatible with Office 97,
but you may freely transfer messages via the internet and other means.

hth,

Thank you both for the replies. I just wanted to make sure that the two
would be compatible before I purchase the new version of Office. We have
Office 2000 here at work and I have been able to transfer files back and
fourth with out problems.
