office 97 and xp pro

My old system distroyed itself, so I purchased a new computer with xp pro. I loaded office 97 and would only run with the cd in place. Assuming I loaded it by accident to run from cd, I uninstalled it, and tried to reload using typical option. After it loads and starts setup I get a message that "Bdrintl.dll unable to register itself in the system registry". I never had this problem when I used it on my old defunct system using win 98
Any suggestions on how to get this file to register itself, so office will setup and work. I am assuming this is my current issue and only issue.

Are you installing under Administrator privileges? Have you searched the
knowledgebase on that dll?
