Hi. Brett Sklar posted with the same subject on 9/17, but there was no
solution offered then.
I seem to have a similar problem:
I recently installed Office97 Pro on a Win2K system (never had any Office
products installed on it before).
I have Outlook97 in the Startup folder, so it launches when I log in.
Sometimes, certainly less than half the time, Outlook97 goes into "not
responding mode" as soon as it loads. It takes _minutes_ for it to load,
and ditto for any reminder windows. If you look at Task manager, that's
what it says for each window ("Not responding"). If you switch to another
window and back, the Outlook window shows whatever was last displayed over
it, for quite a while, until it finally decides to repaint.
Occasionally, certainly less than 10% of the time, Word97's autosave
function is very slow, taking 15-30 seconds to save rather than the usual
imperceptible delay.
Very occasionally, certainly less than 2% of the time, Access97 is very slow
to start, although it appears to work fine after you finally get a database
open.
I've never noticed a problem with Excel97 or Powerpoint97.
Any of these problems usually goes away if I reboot or even log out and back
in.
So the bulk of the problem is in Outlook97.
Other software running concurrently (or started via Startup folder):
IE6.0.2800.1106, Office Startup, Microsoft FindFast, InCD 4.0.5.6, Symantec
Norton Antivirus 7.07.23D, Symantec Norton Utilities 5.0.32 (specifically
System Doctor, CleanSweep Smart Sweep, and Cleansweep Internet Sweep),
Symantec Norton Personal Firewall 2004 (7.0.1.11), Symantec WinFax Pro 10
controller (2000.02.14), Epson CX5200 print monitor.
I have 320MB RAM, so I don't think it's a memory problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
