Office 97 compatibilty with windows xp

I have a customer that is trying to install office 97 on a
computer running windows xp and the programs won't open.
Is office 97 compatible with windows xp or is the problem
based on his office or operating system install

I have it on Xp Home. I had to install it twice before access worked. it
runs without a problem.
