Yes, no problem at all.
But if you intend to edit the document in Word 2000 and then take it back to
Word 97, there are some things that don't translate back to the older
version. To make sure you don't use them, go to Tools > Options in Word
2000, click the Save tab, and check the box for "Disable features introduced
after Word 97".
