Office 97 Install

R

Rick

I am having a problem install my Office 97 on my new
computer that has XP. My Office 97 disc says "Standard
Edition" and yet I get a message saying that setup cannot
find any qualifying products listed on the Microsoft 97
Office box. I have installed this same unit on a computer
that came with Windows 95, then when I upgraded that to
Windows 98 I re-installed it and it worked fine. I also
have a second computer with Windows 98 that I installed it
on and no problems there eather. I was told I needed an
origional Windows 95 disc which I have and it still will
not load. I really do not want to have to buy the whole new
office suite if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly
appreaciated.
Thanks, Rick

What you have is an UPGRADE disk. You must have a qualifying product to
install it.
You can trick it by pointing it back at itself when it asks for the location
of the qualifying product.

That was a smart idea as I had the same problem as Rick,
but I am afraid it still did not want to install. Any
other good ideas ?

Thanks in advance.
