Office 97 Network Printer

Tony

I need help setting up a network with my two home
computers so I can share the printer (Epson). I have the
printer connected to a Toshiba running Windows XP. I
want to be able to connect to that printer from a Compaq
running windows 97. When I try to add the Epson to the
Compaq, I get the error message "Cannot Connect to the
Network". Any suggestions?

May be dependant on printer drivers/software
ie its often the case that printer needs to be installed on 2nd sys, as a
network install.
I assume yr network functions otherwise ok

I moved the printer and connected it to the Compaq and
then networked the Toshiba to the printer. Everything
worked fine.

However, I really need the printer connected to the
Toshiba, so I moved the printer back to the Toshiba and
tried to add the printer to the Compaq. I again got the
error message "Cannot Connect to the Network". Is
Windows 97 too old to easily network a printer? Should I
just buy a second printer for the Compaq?

1 - There is no such thing as Windows 97
2 - It has nothing to do with Office
3 - If it worked on the Compaq then it should work on the Toshiba
4 - Get a techinician to fix it if you can't do it yourself and pay
attention when he fixes it

When you moved printer to Compaq did you also install printer
drivers/software on Compaq?
