Office 97 - Not enough Memory??

N

NYIM

I'm running Windows 98 and Office 97 SR2. The computer has a 6GB(5.04 free
space) hard drive, 128MB of memory and none of the Office programs wil open.
The three error messages are as follows:

Word: There is not enough memory to run Word
Excel: Not enough memory to run Microsoft Exceel
Access: A system error has occurred or there isn't enough free memory to
start Microsoft Access. Close unneeded programs and try again.

Running MEM /c shows

memory total used free
conventional 655,360 66,240 589,120
Upper 0 0 0
Reserve 0 0 0
Extended 67,107,840 ? 132,833,280

Total Expanded 67,108,864
Free Expanded 16,777,216
Largest Executable 589,104

Any suggestions, I know I have enough memory and disk space, and the swap
file is managed by windows at 5,140kb.

Hi, NYIM,

Has this recently begun, or has it always been this way?

Try cleaning out your Windows temp folder, as well as running a scandisk and
defragmentation program to see if a disk error could be causing it.

Thanks Susan, I found a previous stand alone version of Word 97 that after I
deleted it and reinstalled Off 97, the problem went away.
