Office 97 not responding

Linda

None of the office 97 programs will respond. Have been
running it on Windows XP for past 6 months fine. Also,
no docs I have created will open. It tells me they
cannot be found, but they are still listed in my
folders. When I copy files to disk & use on 2nd computer
(Windows 98) they open fine. Is Office97 not compatible
with Windows XP? If not, how come it has worked fine for
past 6 months?

Office97 and WindowsXP are compatible. Have you tried running a detect &
repair in office97, or reinstalling it?

Thanks for your response Eric. How do I do a 'detect &
repair'? No, I have not tried re-installing. Should I
un-install the current one before re-installing?

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Office 97 about the office, but
usually, "Detect and Repair" is on the Help menu inside Office applications
like Word. If it's not there, try rerunning the setup program and see if
there's a detect and repair option. If not, then yes, I'd try to uninstall
and reinstall using Control Panel's Add/Remove programs applet.
