Office 97, Novell server and windows XP

hi,
When opening a file, (Word, Excel or Access), by
d/clicking on the file, a message appears saying, "file is
being used by ------, do you want to make a copy?".

If I start Word, Excel or Access and then open the same
file, it opens ok with no message. This never happened
with Win98 and the same Novell server.
Is the a work around to this problem?

Hi Pete,

If you are opening the files outside the application (other than using
File/Open) then it sounds like the File Associations need to be
recreated.

To recreate go to Start/Run and run the following:

winword /r
excel /regserver
powerpnt /regserver
msaccess /regserver

Note the space before the forward slash.
