Office 97 on Windows XP

Pirmin Schmid

Dear Group Members,

I am still working with Office 97 SP2 on Win98SE (oldie
but goldie :) This Office works just fine for me,
actually. Furthermore I would not like to adapt my Excel-
Scripts written in VBA if updating to a newer version.

My new computer will have Windows XP (appreciated a lot).
But I have seen that there might be several problems in
installing Office 97 on Windows XP.

Therefore my questions:
- How are your experiences: Does it work smoothly?
- What do I have to consider by installing the package to
make it run in its best way?
- Does it matter whether I will be logged in as
administrator or user (with restricted privilegies)?

Thank you very much for your help.

Yours sincerely,

Pirmin Schmid

I installed Office 97 on WinXp on my laptop about a month ago since I
already had '97 that I was no longer using and didn't want to have to
pay more $$ for another Office program. It installed just fine and I
updated it to SP1 with no problems.

Office 97 runs fine on XP and, of course, will have no bearing on any
scripting you may have done within any of the programmes.

Best wishes,

Ed
