Office 97 on windows xp

I can't get office 97 to run on windows xp.
It will install but not run.
Are they compatible?

I run both Office 97 and Office 2000 on Win XP Pro.

What won't run? Word? Excel? Access? What happens when you try and
start them? Do you get any error messages?
