Office 97 Pro in Windows XP

Hi,

I was running Office 97 Pro on my Windows 95 machine. I
just bought a new Dell with XP. I installed Office 97 Pro
on this machine. I then transfered all of my old Excel
and WOrd files to my new machine. I saved them in MY
DOCUMENTS folder.

Now, everytime I try to open these files through Word or
Excel, I get the the following error messages:

Word - THE FILE IS BEING USED BY STEPHEN (my userid). DO
YOU WANT TO MAKE A COPY?

Excel - A FILE WITH THE NAME '' IS ALREADY OPEN. YOU
CANNOT OPEN TWO DOCUMENTS WITH THE SAME NAME, EVEN IF THEY
ARE IN DIFFERENT FOLDERS.

Can anyone help mw with this?

Thanks

Our company is having the same problem with 50 PCs that
were recently moved from W98 to W2K.

We are also seeing that on these W2K machines, members of
the users group cannot record or execute macros in Office
97 pro. This seems to be permissions-related but we can't
find the permissions setting.

I have searched high and low through the MS KB and Googled
variations of the error messages with no luck.
Please help!

We're having the exact same problem here with one of our PC's. We have Windows 2000 OS and Office 97. Does any one have an answer as how to fix this problem.
