Office 97 Product Key

I have a genuine(not copied) cd version of Office Suite 97 and no packaging
to go with it. I have no access to any product key and would like to be able
to use this program. Is there any way to receive a key for this cd? There
are embedded code numbers on the back of the cd on the ring - does this
identify the authenticity? PLEASE HELP! I require an 11 digit code.

Note that this is a Mac Office newsgroup (hence the .mac. in the

I believe you're in a bit of a bind - I doubt that even MS can help you here
based on the age of the version - long-since EOL'd - and without any proof
of purchase:-(

In view of the fact that it will only run in OS 9 or Classic I'd question
the wisdom of trying to use it in the first place... Especially if you have
or intend to get an Intel Mac - they won't even support Classic. Although I
can understand not wanting to put out the money I truly believe you'd be far
better off in the long run to go ahead and buy the Upgrade to 2004.

Sorry - I was thinking Office 98 - advice is the same, but the upgrade would
be to office 2003 or 2007:-}
