Office 97 Professional Op Sys Limitations

I am planning to purchase an Office 97 Professional Full
System, never opened. There is a comment about requiring
windows 95 or windows nt. Does this mean that this is a
version not compatible with windows 2000 or windows xp ?
Are there older versions of office 97 that won't install
on XP ?

Hi Dave,

The wording on the Office 97 package box reflects
the versions of Windows that were there in 1996
when it Office 97 was released.

Office 97 runs on MS Windows XP. Note that MS's current
schedule for ending providing updates for it,
including security ones is in January 2004.

Hi David,

FWIW, Office 97 isn't supported through the
Officeupdate checker (Office 2000 & up)/

The Office 97 updates, except the current security ones,
are available from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads

========
Should be OK, ensure to use Office update after install
