Office 97 Service packs 1 and 2

My Office 97 version is the original one before Office 97
Service Packs 1 and 2 were made available. I am
considering whether or not to install those two Service
Packs. Is it worth it or do they cause problems? Are they
difficult to install?

The Service Packs were issued during the era of Windows
95/98. My operating system is Windows XP Home ... does
that cause a problem with installing them?

Thanks for your advice,

Other than the time in downloading them from the network, I would recommend
installing first SP 1 then SP2b. It is not necessary to install SP2 before
2b. When you install the 2b SP it will ask for your Product number. Start
any of the Office products, Click on Help then About. Write down the number
after Product ID: which will be a 5 number then 3 number or letter then 7
number then 5 number sequence. Close the Office product before starting the
update.

Have Office 97 on all office 2000 Pro machines and my 5 XP personal machines
without any problems with either of the SPs. (Can't say the same for Office
2000, XP or 2003's SPs.
