Office 97 setup will not run.
The applications are installed on my old machine with an XP SP2 upgrade. The
apps run fine, however I tried to use the control panel 'add/remove' to add
the office assistant to Word. Clicking on add/remove button displays an
hourglass for 30 seconds then does nothing.
I tried inserting the CD, and double clicking on setup.exe, and I get an
hourglass for about 30 seconds then it does nothing.
The CD works fine on a different machine.
I am logged in as administrator, but I wonder if there is some privilege
that is being blocked for the Office 97 package. Where would I look?
The individual Office 97 programs run fine.
I also tried copying the CD to a seperate partition and tried to run the
setup.exe. no joy.
Any ideas? (please don't say upgrade).
