Office 97 to Office 2000

Having succesfully run Office 97 on my PC (with Windows ME)
for some time, I bought a copy Of Office2000 Professional
and installed it. Most of the applications seem fine, but
when I try to open Word my PC justs hangs with the
eggtimer on the screen. If I press CONTROL ALT DELETE, it
brings up the message that resources are extremely low and
I have to shut down and restart my PC. Can anyone help or
am I just going to have to give up on Office 2000 and
still use Office 97?

Are you running any AV Office plugin? if so try with it disabled/uninstalled

Soerry, but I am a novice, how would I find out if I was running an AV Office
plug-in? Would I have installed it? if so, the answer is no, but if it would
automatically install when I installed the other parts of office, where do I
look?

AV plugin, an anti virus plugin installed by some AV apps, eg
Norton/Symantec anti virus.
Will usually be shown in the Option/Tools/Misc of yr AV app, and can be
disabled there.
PS what memory on yr sys?

I am running McAfee Virus protection, cannot see any plug-ins. I am pretty
sure there is enough memory as this problem does not happen with any other
application and occurs even when I have nothing else open. I am at a total
loss what to do.

Thanks to everyone for their help. It seems it was a corrupt template and now
I can open Word no problem. Thanks- I would never have thought of that myself.
