office 97 upgrade from works 7.0

I am trying to install office 97 upgrade using MS works 7.0 as the qualifying
product.
In http://tinyurl.com/7rj2j a MVP states that:

<quote>
Products that qualify for the Office upgrade
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;158069&Product=ofw97

The OP will need to contact Microsoft for assistance with this as they do
provide a fix so Office 97 upgrade can be installed.
</quote>

But MS are saying that they no longer offer support for this product as it
is over 5 years old.
Is there any other source for this fix?

Works7 is a new product, O97 is an older product
O97 therefore doesnt recognise Works7

If you have an upgrade version of O97 the origonal qualifying product you
used to install this previously is part of your licence to use the upgrade.
If you no longer have the QP you no longer have a licence to use O97

How can you expect to use a 2004 program as a qualifying product for one that
is from 1997?
