Hi, I have a pc with Word 2002 installed. Is it possible to install the
Office 97 upgrade package with this product? MS Knowledge Base indicated
that all "Future" versions of qualifying programs should be compatible. PC
is running XP. Thanks.

Sorry, Forgot to mention the following:

Everytime I put in the upgrade CD I get as far as the screen regarding
searching for qualifying products page. Immediately I get a hard disk
failure screen and it freezes. It has not even had time to begin a search.

Upgrade qualifying products must be available *before* the upgrade package
can be installed. Since Word 2002 postdates the Office 97 upgrade, it is
not a qualifying product.

What specific Microsoft KB article are you referring to for this
information?

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 158069
At the very bottom is reads "Note Some of the qualifying products listed
above may not be recognized by the Microsoft Office 97 Setup program. Also,
newer versions of the programs listed above, such as suites, word
processors, and spreadsheet programs, are also qualifying products, even
though they are not listed above. "

Thanks for the cite - if you notice, however, it also states:

Note Some of the qualifying products listed may not be recognized by the
Microsoft Office 97 Setup program. If this problem occurs, contact Microsoft
Product Support.

I suggest you contact PSS.
