office 97 /ver xp

I used to use office 97 and installed xp version quite a while ago. I just
noticed in my add or reomove programs section that i still have office
97(700meg)on my machine. Is this program or parts of it used by the newer xp
version or can i remove it without effecting my xp version? Will there be
other parts of 97 that my xp version can use? My xp version is only 175meg
so i'm puzzled

Office XP does not use any part of Office 97 with one possible exception.
The one possible exception is media related files such as clipart. The media
related files are not needed by Office XP, but there may some that you have
used and want to retain.

You can just delete the Office 97 folder or do what I do when I do not think
I need a folder. Rename the folder to something like Old Office 97 and wait
a few months before your delete the folder. Your choice.

Office XP does spread its files out more that Office 97 did.
