Office 97 w/Windows 98??

My elderly mother just "inherited" a PC from my aunt that has Windows 98 on
it. She had Office 97 SBE on her Windows 95 system and really liked it. Is
it comaptible with W98?

We have tried to install/setup a number of times and she keeps getting the
message "This application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
location where you originally installed the application" when she clicks on
the desktop icons.

HELP! What are we doing wrong? She has files that we need to transfer over
and can't because we can't get it to work properly. If we can't get it to
work at all...she will be stuck with Works and have to re-do everything. And
no, she can't afford to purchase additional software to upgrade it.

there or have you just copied the files from the desktop pc?

I rarely see this error after doing a normal install from the cd...could I
ask you to reinstall it from the CD after deleting the directory where
office is located? (mostly c:\program files\microsoft office)
