Office 97 with Win XP

Installed Office 97 on Compaq running Win XP. At first
everything worked fine. Now Photoeditor refuses to come
up. Have uninstalled and then reinstalled. Nothing! It
is the only program I had for changing the file type of a
picture, such as a pcx to jpeg. What is going wrong. I
recently downloaded more patches from microsoft for XP.
could one of these patches have killed my photoeditor
somehow?

Try reintalling it. One if its files probably got clobbered or something.
