Office 97

Jo Ann Hoyler

I bought a new computer yesterday that has WindowsXP, the
old computer has Windows98 & I was using Office 97
Professional Edition. I want to know if I can still use
the Office 97 with XP without causing problems or if I
need to get something different.

I posted almost the exact same question a little while
ago. Check out the answers given under my original
post "Is Office 97 compatible with Windows XP?" (the XP
seems to be cut off, but I'm sure you can find it).

In a nutshell, though, it should work fine and if there is
a problem (usually with Access) it is fixable through a
link provided in one of the replies to my post.

I have the same question. Best Buy sales guy advised me
not to do it. I am not sure it is true. I am wondering
you have received any responses from your posting.

Best Buy is trying to scare you to buy a copy of Office XP. Office 97 works
fine under WinXP. I used it for nearly a year before upgrading to Office
XP--not because 97 wasn't working but because I wanted the new features of
XP.
