Office 97

I'm about to buy a new computer with Windows XP operating
system.

Can I use my Office 97 software with XP? If not, and I
upgrade, will another computer with Office 97 be able to
read my Office 2003 files, work on them and send them back
to me? In other words, what is the compatibility between
Office 2003, Office 97 and Windows XP?

Office 97 runs fine with Windows XP. However, I suggest you uninstall Office
97 before you uprgrade, and then reinstall afterwards.

In fact, I recommend uninstalling everything, including peripherals -
printer, scanner etc - before upgrading.

97 can read files from later versions, but I am not sure about Office XP.

Hope this helps,

Ed

Yes

The file formats are unchanged except for Access and Outlook, although these
are not usually files that are swapped around.
