office 97

Okay, I know it's really old. I bought office 97 as an upgrade to my laptop years ago. Now I've got a nice new computer, and I want to install Office 97 because I really like that program much better than the Microsoft Works that came installed on my computer. Any advice as to what file I need to copy from my laptop to allow my new computer to have a "qualifying product"

Do you have the original qualifying product CD or floppie that you used for
the initial upgrade on the laptop? You are required to maintain that
product as a part of the upgrade license. If you do not have that program
any longer, then you no longer qualify for the upgrade for Office 97. It is
in the EULA.

The original product was on the laptop. I just don't know where the back-up type floppies are. Is there a way to copy a file from my laptop to my new computer that would work? I can save to a floppy (both have 3.5 drives).

Not sure if that will work, as installations normally want the original
media.

You're right, Millie. You can't install an upgrade as an original
installation. The upgrade will look for the original licence.
